| Abstract | It is a characteristic of Deuteronomy that just in the xii-xxvi programmatically opened chapters XII and XIII, where specifically Israelite motives are unfolded, the influence of cuneiform-Assyrian language and motifs is particularly striking. This chapter describes the characterization by motives Neo-Assyrian treaty texts and adenosine oaths. Betrayal of YHWH by the worship of foreign gods (xiii 3b, 7b, IIb, 14b) is warned by analogy with the political betrayal of the Assyrian king. A particular terminological density parallelism characterizes the family law of Mittelassyrischen Code of panel A and Deut, so that it should be made the starting point of the comparison. These parallels gain weight by the exclusive agreements between Deut. and mass. The parallels between Deut. and mass. KA receive further weight by the find circumstances of the measure. |
