Abstract

The specificity of the study consists in the application of biblical rhetorical analysis to the text of the Letter of James, which had never been dealt with by this methodology. The Letter is analyzed from its composition to lead to an interpretation that takes into account the sense created by the relationships between the various textual units of the work. The investigation thus allows you to state that you are not in front of a messy script or a heterogeneous compilation of various such connections - just outside of them, as long ago various authors have argued. The text of the letter is rather an impressionist picture, in which the search for continuous lines can only cause frustration in the spectator or disdainful judgment about the quality of the work. So to read the Letter of James you have to distance yourself from its text so that it is possible to perceive the interaction of the various meanings apparently placed side by side. Rhetorical analysis therefore offers the reader the right lens, which will enrich the discussion about the composition of this work, also pointing to new perspectives for its theological reading.
