A because of the things which he had seen,
                B yea, which the Lord had shown unto him.
                                16. C A And now I, Nephi, do not make a full account
                                                D B of the things which my father hath written,
                                                 C for he hath written many things
                                                 D which he saw in visions
                                                 D and in dreams;
                                                 C and he also hath written many things
                                                 B which he prophesied and spake unto his children,
                                                                E A of which I shall not make a full account.
                                                                17. E A But I shall make an account of my proceedings in my days.
                                                D B Behold, I make an abridgment of the record of my father,
                                                C Upon plates which I have made
                                                C with mine own hands;
                                                B wherefore, after I have abridged the record of my father
                                C A then will I make an account of mine own life.
                                18. Therefore, I would that ye should know,
                B A that after the Lord had shown
                B so many marvelous things unto my father, Lehi, yea, concerning the
                 destruction of Jerusalem,
                C behold he went forth among the people,
                D and began to prophesy

                C unto them
